Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find out how dramatherapy using autobiographical performances affects the ego-integration, self-esteem and depression of elderly women living alone. After the validity assessment by experts through preliminary research, this study was revised and supplemented. This study was conducted on the experimental group(n=13) 11 times, once a week for two hours, and was not conducted on the control group(n=8). The results of ego-integration, self-esteem, and depression scale tests conducted before and after the program were examined for differences between experimental and control groups through Repeated Measured ANOVA(analysis of variance), and the reliability and validity were supplemented by behavioral observation scales and qualitative case analysis. The results of the study are as follows. First, the experimental group showed significant differences in improving ego-integration, self-esteem and reducing depression compared to the control group. Second, in the before and after comparison of the experimental group, the sense of ego-integration tended to rise, and the improvement of self-esteem and the reduction of depression confirmed meaningful results. Third, behavioral observation evaluation and qualitative case analysis also showed positive changes in both participants and group dynamics afterwards rather than before. These results are thought to have helped the elderly women living alone to achieve positive experiences and integration of life by re-experiencing their own lives as the protagonist of life and realizing their own values through dramatherapy using autobiographical performances.
